The Collegium project began as a Master Plan and set of Guidelines to establish a series of Collegia across the UBC Main Campus. The purpose was to provide commuting students a “home away from home”, a place where students have a sense of ownership and can build sustaining relationships. Collegia include space to meet other students, socialize, study, eat, relax, in sum a comfortable place to land between their on-campus commitments.
The first Collegium built is located in the Ponderosa 1 hub and provides space for 300 first year student members. The project has been a raging success.
