ABOUT

Designed as “Phase Two” for the Radium Community Hall and Library, the Radium Amenity Building and Outdoor Rink is located in Legend Park to activate the place for both summer and winter seasons and is the next phase in the Park revitalization.

This project utilizes the same wood-forward approach as the Community Centre, and includes timber framing, charred wood siding and a plywood soffit. Building massing references the Community Hall and Library, with a sloped form that highlights views to dramatic mountains of Kootenay National Park located to the north. The prominent mountain scape is referenced throughout the project, notably on the exterior glazed panels and DLT wood panel screen located in the picnic area.

The Amenity Building + Rink acts as a small beacon, supporting the new outdoor rink and providing a home base for park activities.
