ABOUT

This new K - 12 school for the Quatsino Band, includes classrooms, a library, cultural room and gymnasium. The development of the K'ak'ot'lats'I - "House of Learning" - community school involved reclaiming a village site that had witnessed the infill of a former marshland and salmon-bearing stream. The school design integrated these natural site attributes with a building inspired by the marine oriented tradition of the Quatsino people, and celebrated the cultural symbols of the five tribes that constitute the Quatsino First Nation Designed in collaboration with Marceau Evans Architecture
