ABOUT
The North Vancouver Museum will be a transparent museum, an open and accessible facility highlighting and making visible events, artifacts and programs. The Pipe Shop building and its heritage architecture will form the backbone of the Museum experience. The existing structure will be highlighted and all new work will be constructed in a clean modernist transparent vocabulary in contrast to the existing heavy timber structure. The inclusion of multi-function flexible spaces provides opportunities for earning revenue through events, catering and space rentals. The existing building provides opportunities for dramatic exhibit spaces in the galleria and the second floor, and incorporates a temporary gallery with a class space enabling the museum to borrow significant artifacts from lenders and other museums.
