Jacob Riehl | Intern Architect

Jacob Riehl

Jacob joins the UAA team as an Intern Architect. He graduated with a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the McEwen School of Architecture in Sudbury Ontario, Canada’s newest Architecture program, where he was able to gain valuable knowledge from the unique community engaged and travel based Design-Build curriculum.

Jacob first gained experience assisting in a variety of projects at multiple scales, from working alongside Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario, to developing educational facilities and residential high-rises in Toronto. His experiences have also led him to discuss impactful architecture alongside architects in Finland, Germany, and Switzerland.

Jacob’s passions pursue the integral relationships between emotion, architecture and people, and how these relations are rooted in a sense of place. He brings an acute understanding of how materiality, light and form can be used to produce meaningful spaces in each project.

Originally from the Niagara Region in Southern Ontario, his journey has now lead him to Vancouver where he is grateful to the Musqueam/xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Squamish/Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh/Sel̓íl̓witulh, who allow him to live and work on their unceded territories.
