Fanru grew up in a coastal city at the foot of the mountain in China. Probably due to this reason, she has
always loved ocean and mountains. After obtaining some internship experience in China, she recently moved
to Vancouver and joined UAA for the temptation of Whistler and the beautiful beach in town.
Fanru holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Architecture at McGill University. Her passion for Architecture
didn’t appear by surprise but grew from years of travel and exploration. She has been to a lot of cities but didn’t
take notice and appreciate the beauty of architecture until she read the book “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino.
Not only bringing back a lot of good memories from her journey so far, but the book also made her fall in love
with the exquisite, complexity and conflict of architecture.
Although Fanru is new to the city and eager to make friends, the most relaxing activity she imagines to do is to
read her favorite book on the beach. Besides reading and painting in her free time, she also volunteers to do
some graphic design work for her friends, such as flyers, logo design and postcards due to her love for design.
With her international background, Fanru aspires to expand her previous experience and skill sets to work on
all kinds of architectural projects. In the long run, she would love to gain insights and inspirations for designing
her own future dream house.
