ALAN TSE

Joining Urban Arts in 2021, Alan brings more than 20 years of experience across a range of design disciplines and at all stages of the design process, both in BC and across North America. Alan is passionate about working with communities and clients to find ways to express their visions and goals, and towards building stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable places to live, work and play.

Alan has been involved in a diverse array of project types and scales, ranging from neighbourhood-wide master plans to built work, with a focus on non-profit, institutional, educational, and recreational sectors. With a background in both urban planning and architecture, Alan’s experience is interdisciplinary and he brings an ability to span scales, simultaneously seeking the “big picture” while having a constant eye open for how things are resolved on the ground and in real life –both in terms of technical coordination and architectural detailing, but also in terms of how the design decisions we make actively impact the daily lives of those who inhabit our buildings.

Alan is a registered architect in British Columbia and holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelors in Environmental Studies (Urban Planning) from the University of Waterloo.
